(Thanks to Patrick for these pictures.)

august opening

Here's a few pics from The Shuckster in Charlottesville. (Thanks to Jesse for scanning the paintings!) I had an opening August 5th. The show is done now, but thanks to everyone who came by and saw it!

Also, check out pics from the September show, featuring Victoria...it's pretty sweet! The space has these great little nooks and it's nice to see what people do with them.

recent glittery history

Here's a bunch of photos I never posted from the summer. During a long period of house-hunting craziness, I seem to have neglected the blog. But don't worry, it's still here!

And by photos, I mean photos that Conrad took. Thanks!

Handmade Stalactites in the Broad Street Concourse

Wednesday, I hung up my stalactites in a couple entrances to the Broad Street Subway. It was great to see them hanging underground! Big thanks to Jackie for helping me out and Conrad for taking photos!

Check out the full set of photos over at Streets Dept.

recent wheatpastes

I am finally getting around to posting these pics from a few weeks ago when Alex, Conrad, and I went out around Northern Liberties and Fishtown. I pasted up some new vultures (some of which are definitely still up!). Go check 'em out!

bike----show

A couple weeks ago, my friend Jackie organized a bike-themed art show to benefit her Bike & Build trip this summer. It was a one-day show at Masthead Print Studio in Northern Liberties. Above is the painting I made for the show! A kind-of-awful terribly lit photo that I wanted to show you anyways! There it is!

The Cheaper Show

I submitted to The Cheaper Show in Vancouver (which will take place in June) aaaand while they didn't select me to be in the show, they did put me on this list of honorable mentions! Big thanks to them!

You can read my little bio and see an image of my work here.

mobile home

I've been meaning to post some of these pictures for a while, since I saw them on an amazing blog post a few weeks ago. These mobile homes/trailers/wagons?/etc. are so inspiring! Makes me want to build one myself and set out across the country Oregon-Trail-style!

the press release!

Art Show at The Garage
February 4 - February 28

Featuring:
"Grounds"
Paintings, Prints, and Installations by Philadelphia-based artist, Kristin Smith

In her first Charlottesville solo show, Kristin Smith returns with
new work depicting an unnatural version of the natural world. Strange clouds and stalactites are the backdrop to unfamiliar plants and puddles formed of a mysterious substance. Revealed in cross-sections of the earth's layers, this suspicious muck seeps and collects around the roots of plants that seem to survive in spite of their dripping surroundings. The show is inspired by nineteenth century infographs, unusual vegetation, and underground interiors.

The Garage
250 1st St. N (between Market St. and Jefferson St. across from Lee Park)
